Ecuadorian gastronomy has been enriched by pluriculturalism, as the variety of spieces and products that exist in the country. Within the country there are four natural regions: coast, sierra, amazon and insular region of Galapagos with different and unique customs and traditions.
The typical dishes and the main ingredients vary according to these natural conditions, so for that reason Ecuador is the perfect place to enjoy unique experiences and know about different types of cultures.
The coast's gastronomy is very varied, it is based on fish, specially croaker, trout and tilapia. Also bananas are an important part of the typical cousine, because almost all dishes have a garnish made by banana like chifles, patacones or tigrillo.
The sierra's gastronomy has a lot of traditional recipes that include ancestral products like mote, potatoe, corn, habas or rice. Almost all dishes include a protein which can be pork, beef or chicken. Some typical sierra's dishes are: hornado, fritada, yahuarlocro, cuy, mote pillo, and llapingachos.
